BeerBasics.com is glad you chose to watch Harpoon Dunkin’ Coffee Porter.
Dunkin’ has shed “Donuts” and gone into the brewing business.
As you can see from this video, it took the taste to convince me it was a porter and not a stout.
Coffee Bean meets Barely Corn
Today the influence of the North American small breweries is interesting. Their take on tweeking traditional styles of beer has resulted in some very interesting brews. Coffee is not something new to brewers. Coffee is not easy to work with, oils from coffee are not friendly to fermenters. Coffee’s roasted bitter flavors go well with the dark roasted flavors of porter. Together they make an almost chocolate flavor. That is the interesting thing about tasting beer seriously. You can find all kinds of flavors you missed before.
Spoiler alert… Sometimes things don’t go quite the way anticipated.
